Immediately after making your reservation, you‘ll receive an e-mail that confirms the date & beach package you selected along with directions & parking suggestions. On the day of your reservation, your Beach Butler will set your package up in a prime spot and wait for you to arrive. Upon arrival, they’ll review the package with you to ensure you have everything you reserved and answer any questions. They will also give you their card so you can call them if you run into any issues. At the end of the day (or whenever you request), your Beach Butler will return to pack up the equipment, take a few group photos and give you a receipt acknowledging the return of all rented equipment.
Payment can be made on the beach at the time of your rental. We accept cash, debit and credit cards.
All cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the day of your reservation. For example, if your reservation is on Saturday, we need to be notified by 10:00 am on Friday. We’re very busy during the summer season and often have to turn business away. 24 hours gives us a chance to call interested people back and re-book your reservation. Cancellations made with less than a 24 hour notice may will be subject to a $25 fee.
No. You are renting everything we setup for you and it must be returned at the end of the day (except food, drinks, ice, sunscreen & plastic utensils).
Absolutely. We can accommodate up to 100 people (or more with notice). Please call us to discuss your event.
Yes, we can create up to 500 square feet of Cabana space by linking our 10’ Cabanas together. Please call us to discuss your needs.
During peak beach months (May – September), San Diego averages .078 inches of rain per month so this is rarely an issue. If it’s raining 1 hour before your set up time and the forecast for the afternoon is rain, you have the option of canceling your reservation with no penalty.
No problem. Just give us a call as soon as you know and we’ll adjust the package accordingly.
Again, no problem but please call us at least 1 hour before your reservation is scheduled to end. For either package, add $20 per hour for each hour after the initial 7 hours. This is a flat fee per hour and covers everything you & your group rented. For example, if your package includes add-ons like body boards, extra towels, chairs or a cooler, the $20 per additional hour charge covers all these components.
Your beach set up is available from 10am to 5pm but you can arrive and leave anytime you want. Just call your Beach Butler and they’ll arrange to meet you at the appropriate time.

We understand that from time to time things get damaged or lost. While you are liable for any loss or damage not considered “normal wear & tear”, we don’t like to assess charges unless it’s a very clear case of abuse or negligence. In these rare cases, we charge a reasonable fee. We’re not looking to nitpick or gouge our customers – we want you back and we want you to recommend us to your friends & family. The most costly component of our beach package is the Sun Shelter and the most common damage occurs when they blow down due to excessive wind. Since we set it up for you, YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE provided you don’t relocate the Shelter or remove any of the tie-downs. We set it up so we’re responsible for wind related damage.

No. Food and add-on rentals are only available to customers who rent our Umbrella & Cabana packages.
We’d love to serve every beach in San Diego but logistics dictate that we concentrate on the most popular. That said, we’re always looking to expand our coverage. Please email your suggestions to us at info@beachbutlers.com. If you have a special event and would like to use our service at a different beach, please call us to discuss your situation.
No. You’re paying us to rent and set up a beach package for you so there’s no need to tip them. We don’t want that awkward feeling of obligation at the end of the day or the pressure of trying to figure out how much is appropriate. We take good care of our Butlers and they’re well compensated for their efforts.
We take reservations by phone only (we’re working on a new online reservation system that should be available soon).
